Sawara Cypress Bonsai Tree (Chamaecyparis pisifera 'Squarrosa Intermedia')
The Sawara Cypress, a native of the Japanese islands of Honshu and Kyushu, boasts fine-textured medium green needles that are subtly tinted white beneath. Its small cones, while not particularly ornamental, transition from a glaucous green in the summer to a rich black-brown when ripe. As the cypress matures, its reddish-brown bark peels in strips, adding to its visual appeal. This bonsai tree is best kept outdoors.
At 27 years old, this bonsai tree stands 21" x 24" x 25" tall, a testament to its careful growth and training.
It is beautifully potted in a 14" brown oval mica container. For optimal growth, a suitable humidity/drip tray is recommended and can be added at a small additional cost.
