Pin Oak Bonsai Tree ('quercus palustris')
The Pin Oak, a native of North America, is a medium-sized deciduous tree that makes a stunning bonsai. Its leaves, with 5 or 7 pointed lobes, each bearing 5-7 bristle-tipped teeth, create a unique aesthetic. The sinuses, or air-filled spaces, are typically U-shaped and deeply cut, providing as much air-filled area as actual leaf area. The tree also produces bitter acorns, housed in a shallow, thin cap.
At 23 years old and 22" tall, this outdoor bonsai tree has been meticulously grown and trained. It's recommended to pair it with a suitable humidity/drip tray, available at a small additional cost.
During late summer (August), the tree may be shipped with mature, transitioning foliage as it prepares for dormancy. In autumn and winter, it may arrive with no foliage, but fear not, as it will emerge from dormancy and re-grow its foliage in early Spring.
